Default Dragon's Gullet

Hey guys,
I don't know how many people have found this, but there's a VERY large explorable area north of of the Temple Corridor in North Ascalon. If you've done the Althea's Ashes quest, the portal is just north of the final temple where the ashes were. The first thing you'll face is hundreds of Hydra. I really mean hundreds. These guys aren't too hard alone, but in groups of 10-15 they can be killer. Bring along fire protection.
After the hydra, there's another huge expance filled with creatures called "abomination"s, also in groups of 10-15. They're weaker than the hydras, but have much more annoying necro-type debuff skills. I have to admit that when I got to that section I had been playing the hydra-infested area for 3 HOURS. It was just me, a friend of mine, and a bunch of henches. Just walking to the area with the abominations from the resurrection point took five minutes, so we eventually decided to give up until we could get a bigger group. The area has a lot of good swag, and probably something cool at the end, but it's VERY long and challenging. I'd love to hear of someone's success in the area.

P.S.: Where can I post suggestions for the Guild Wars developers? I have a couple that I'd really like to write out.

Probably and extra area they didn't have time to develop before the release date so they stuck a crap load of enemies there giving peopel something to do. I think I heard someone say there is an outpost out there. But other than that it's probably just an area they started so they can expand in the expansion

I went there the other day. Made it pretty far until the path came across a bridge guarded by about 15 hydras.

I got machine-gunned-meteor'd...there was nothing I could do.

There's no holy grail at the end of dragon's gullet. I decided to fully explore the area a few nights ago. I'm a level 20 Ra/Mo and I took the level 8 henchmen available at the courthouse over there. With my henchmen, we could take on up to 4 hydras at a time, but anything more than that was certain death. The henchmen just couldn't handle the abuse. During that outing, I went around and destroyed all of the abominations on the north end of the zone (I'm specced as a smiter as my secondary, so with judges insight buffed, my arrows did about 144 damage each.) The grouped hydras, though, were too much.

So the next night I mapped over to Temple of the Ages and took a full party of 8 (7 level 15 henchmen and myself) and backtracked all the way to dragon's gullet, wrecking everything on the way. We then completely decimated the entire zone. Typical drops for having 7 henchmen (1:8 chance of getting loot assigned to me) but I had a heck of a time killing 5 or 6 hydras at a time.

It's a really nifty zone though. A good preview for some of the desert zones in the later portions of the game. FWIW, level 10 hydras are considerably easier than level 20 or level 22 hydras. It's unfortunate that there weren't any quests that sent you there. It would have made the Althea's Ashes quest look really easy if you'd had to go through that zone to get to Dragon's Gullet.

Incidentally, there are 2 or 3 collectors in the zone that ask for stuff that drops there. The results aren't anything to write home about, but I suppose it's good to know information.

A friend and I (him a level 13 R/E, me a level 20 R/Mo) went and cleared out the whole area, the hydras there aren't very bad at all, I could down them in 3-4 hits and we took on the huge groups all at once (heh, I feel bad for my pet though.. he got mauled).

It would be pretty cool if they had something over there, but I guess it's just a home to Hydra, and those ugly Abominations...
